PayPal Mobile App Now Has Notification Alerts, Help Center, And More
October 26, 2010
PayPal's iOS mobile application received a few nice features in v3.0. The latest release finally utilizes all push notification features, adds some assistance, and adds a new beta feature.
It has taken quite some time, but the PayPal app finally offers more than just badge and sound notifications. You can now be informed via the typical push alert message when you send money, get a request for money, receive money, or purchase something.
You can adjust which type of transactions you receive alerts for under Account, Settings, then Push Notifications. Another addition for the new Settings section includes Login Duration control. You can choose how long you wish to remain logged-in to the app -- anywhere from two minutes to three days.
In a likely attempt to decrease customer service contacts, eBay has followed a number of other companies by now including a frequently asked questions (FAQ) Help Center. Get the answers to common questions for PayPal basics, account concerns, mobile app features, and more. You can find the new Help Center under the Account tab.
I wasn't able to find, therefore, test the new PayPal Local feature, but here is the rundown:
PayPal Local helps you find special offers from nearby stores and service providers that accept PayPal.
PayPal Local is just getting started and we're still signing up stores and service providers. If you don't see any offers, we encourage you to ask your favorite merchants to sign up.PayPal is available for free in the App Store, and compatible with iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 3.1 or later.
