HootSuite for Twitter, the popular iOS Twitter client, has just received a major upgrade. Now, HootSuite is a universal application, meaning the same version will work on all of your iOS devices. And, what's more: HootSuite is now free. Besides "universality" and the all-important price change, little else is new. Some bug fixes and minor updates have been made, but for iPhone/iPod touch users, the application will hardly feel different. iPad owners, however, should rejoice: universal applications are brilliant. Now, there's a serious, free alternative to Twitter's own Twitter for iPad application, which seems to be a love-hate kind of app. It's also worth remembering that Twitterrific for iPhone and iPad is also free, just in case Twitter and HootSuite don't do it for you.
