iPad 2 Lens Manufacturer Confirmed?

November 30, 2010
Could Apple have already selected its iPad 2.0 lens manufacturer? While Largan Precision isn't commenting on the matter, the word on the street is that this company will be supplying the iPad 2's camera lenses. As Digitimes reports:
Largan Precision has declined to comment on market rumors indicating the company will be the sole lens module supplier for Apple’s upcoming iPad 2 tablet with shipments to kick off in the first quarter of 2011, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
Furthermore, it has been noted by Digitimes that Largan also supplied the iPhone 4's 5MP camera lenses. In other iPad 2 news, OmniVision is reportedly going to provide the front (and possibly rear) camera for the second generation iDevice. Additionally, the iPad 2 could be made out of carbon fiber in order to "create reinforced housing" for the device. Production of the iPad 2 is rumored to begin in February. However, ahead of this, the iPad is expected to sell very well over the Christmas period. After all, it is one of this year's most wanted Christmas gifts. Will you be buying an iPad this Christmas? How about an iPad 2, next year? Let us know in the comments below.
