According to a recent post by Mashable, Virgin Group Chairman Richard Branson plans to unveil a new iPad-only magazine at a press event this coming Tuesday.
Currently, we're not exactly sure what to expect from Branson's iPad magazine app. Content-wise, Mashable notes that "international culture, entertainment, design, business and travel" are among the magazine's key themes, as listed on the event's invitation.
Obviously, the publication could be nothing more than a simple in-flight magazine for Virgin's customers to enjoy. However, there could be more to it.
Not so long ago, we told you about the Daily: an upcoming tablet-only newspaper, which is the product of Apple's partnership with News Corp. Already, there are a wide variety of digital publications available in the App Store. The Daily, however, is set to revolutionize digital magazines by introducing "app subscriptions" in iOS 4.3. Apple's next iOS installation is reportedly due mid-December. The Daily is expected to launch around the same time.
With regards to Branson's involvement in the world of digital publications, we're going to have to wait until Tuesday to find out exactly what Virgin is up to. We'll be posting when more news becomes available, so be sure to check back with us!
