Jailbreak Only: New Redsn0w To Facilitate Tethered Reboot Coming Soon

December 5, 2010
The iPhone Dev-Team will soon be updating redsn0w to facilitate rebooting "tethered" jailbroken iDevices. As iSpazio notes (Google Translate), MuscleNerd recently confirmed the news via Twitter. In reply to iH8snow, MuscleNerd noted:
we do have a streamlined redsn0w coming up that skips all that extra work too
If you own an iPhone 4 or iPad running iOS 4.2.1, currently there is only a "tethered" jailbreak solution available. This means that every time you reboot your device, you have to plug it into a PC or Mac before it's usable. Currently, comex is reportedly hard at work, trying to "untether" the redsn0w jailbreak. Until then, iPhone 4 and iPad owners are stuck with a "tethered" jailbreak solution. However, this upcoming version of redsn0w will hopefully make the process of rebooting less of a problem. We'll let you know when it's available.
