Doodler Will Hop To Hollywood With An Upcoming Doodle Jump Easter Egg

January 28, 2011
Lima Sky is still making headlines. This time, Igor Pušenjak is teaming up with some big boys from Hollywood, Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. Together, these three companies will be bringing a drop of Easter to the App Store's best selling game. A free software update to Doodle Jump will be released sometime in February. This update will contain an unlockable secret Easter level, which will allow users to play as the main character of the upcoming animated comedy and adventure film Hop. Move over Doodler, the Easter Bunny is on his way.
“A movie as creative as Hop calls for an equally creative launch into consumers’ consciousness,” said Director of Mobile for Universal Partnerships & Licensing Calvin Lim. “Lima Sky has captured people’s imagination with their apps, and partnering Lima’s Doodle The Doodler with E.B. is a character match made in heaven.” “We are honored to be affiliated with this amazing film and accomplished studio. Knowing that a project like this has never been done before adds an extra level of pride to the new ground we’ll break together,” said Igor Pusenjak, president and founder of Lima Sky. “To have Doodle Jump involved with the launch of a major motion picture demonstrates how influential apps have become in just a few short years.”
Hop will be the second film created by both Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. The first film collaboration was the quite successful Despicable Me from last summer. In fact, Illumination Entertainment's founder and CEO, Christopher Meledandri, has had a quite lustrous career. Meledandri has been a producer since the late '80s and stood as the president of 20th Century Fox Animation until starting Illumination Entertainment. Amongst his previous work, he was an executive producer of notable animation films like Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Robots, and Horton Hears a Who! Doodle Jump is currently in the top ten, and available for purchase in the App Store for $.99. Hop is set to make its way to theaters April 1st. Do Doodle Jump fans consider this to be a sign of Igor's promise, "my first commitment is to Doodle Jump fans and to making Doodle Jump a great game"; or isn't this the way to keep the game fresh?
