Apple has just announced that over one million applications were downloaded from the Mac App Store yesterday, on the day of its launch.
Apple stated:
CUPERTINO, California—January 7, 2011—Apple® today announced that over one million apps have been downloaded from the Mac® App Store℠ in the first day. With more than 1,000 free and paid apps, the Mac App Store brings the revolutionary App Store experience to the Mac, so you can find great new apps, buy them using your iTunes® account, download and install them in just one step.“We’re amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting,” commented Steve Jobs. “Developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is.” Yesterday, the long expected Mac App Store launched with 1,000 apps. Among them were Angry Birds, Flight Control HD, and Apple's iWork and iLife '11 suites. Since then, over one million Mac OS X applications have been downloaded via the store. This is undoubtedly a remarkable achievement. If you haven't yet downloaded the Mac OS X 10.6.6 software update (which adds the Mac App Store), be sure to hit "Software Update" when you get a chance. And, if you have an opinion on the store, feel free to post it in the comments.
