The White iPhone 4 Remains A Puzzler
January 11, 2011
Amongst all of the commotion from the official announcement of the iPhone for Verizon, finally ending that discussion, we still have one iPhone 4 question unanswered. As noted in our earlier coverage, the Verizon event brought not a whisper of the white iPhone, or did it?
While no official word was mentioned from any Verizon executives or representatives, Apple Headlines discovered that Verizon did make a mention of the white model through their additional details within the "iPhone 4. Verizon. It begins." page.
During the first moments of this section going live, if you clicked on "More about iPhone 4" under the iPhone 4 photo, then went to Tech Specs, and finally entered the Capacity and color section, you'd be shown the image at the beginning of this article, clearly depicting both colors and models of the iPhone 4.
In a very prompt action, Verizon changed the image to reflect the black only option we've become accustom to. Seeing as they had an image up and ready to go, along with a black one to quickly swap out, does this mean that Verizon could be one of the first to finally offer the white version of the iPhone 4?
As we reported a bit over a month ago, Apple did claim that the iPhone 4 would still become available in white, at least eventually. Apple's note was "The white iPhone 4 will be available spring 2011." That leaves a technical window of March 20th to June 20th.
What does this all mean, and who still cares? Does this mean that Apple feels that the iPhone 4 in white will be a strong enough seller, even after the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, or whatever it will be called becomes available? Does it mean a possible delay in our annual iPhone revision schedule? Give us your opinions on this ongoing head-scratcher.
