A Reborn Version Of Double Dragon Will Make Its Way To The App Store This March

February 12, 2011
If you were a fan of the arcade brawler Double Dragon back in the late '80s and '90s, then you may have something to get excited about next month. Aksys Games will be publishing an updated version of Double Dragon developed by Brizo Interactive. Brizo Interactive isn't the original developer of Double Dragon. The original developer, the Technōs Japan Corporation, went under in 2001, and their copyright assets were picked up by a company called Million. Brizo is a mobile game developer, so the outcome shouldn't be too questionable, and I can't personally say I'm impressed with Sega's iOS ports of their own titles. It will just need to be a wait and see. As the story goes, martial art experts Jimmy and Billy must battle their way through gangs of hoodlums and the Black Warriors to save Marian, the heartthrob of them both, after Jimmy and Billy refused to hand over the sacred Sousetsuken scrolls. Double Dragon iPhone will feature new attacks, enemies, bosses, plus unlockable achievements and hidden characters. The iOS version will also sport somewhat revised and updated artwork details and background music. The "Easy Combo and Control Scheme" appears to be a fairly standard virtual directional pad and button user interface. Finally, Double Dragon iPhone will include cooperative multiplayer via a Bluetooth connection. Double Dragon iPhone is scheduled to be available in the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch sometime in March. No pricing or exact requirements have yet been disclosed.
