Use VoiceMan To Keep Track Of Your Mobile Minutes, Including Warning Alerts
February 7, 2011
XVision has released another app to help iDevice users monitor activities that could result in potentially costly overage charges. As the DataMan utility tracks and warns of excessive data usage, VoiceMan tracks and warns iPhone owners when they're closing-in on overstepping their voice package minute allowance.
VoiceMan allows tracking of daily, weekly, and monthly voice usage by minute. Setup is as simple as entering in your wireless plan's allotted minute value, last day of the billing cycle, and what percentages of usage to be warned about exceeding. Because VoiceMan monitors the activity through the iPhone voice apps like Phone, and not by accessing account information, it isn't carrier dependent.
XVision doesn't stop at simply tracking and subtracting minutes used from minutes available. The app also features the ability of geotagging calls, recording both outgoing and incoming values, history list, and four possible warning levels.
Geotagging can be important when verifying possible roaming charges posted on your wireless bill. A person can simply use the location information to clear up the curiosity of where you tend to place and receive calls the most. Geotagging data remains within the app and is not shared with XVision or any other app. Geotagging can be disabled by turning off VoiceMan in Settings --> General --> Location Services.
Why are VoiceMan and DataMan more useful than the Settings app and carrier account portals? There's no need to remember to reset the call and data counter once your billing cycle starts over. It's not necessary to wait hours or days for the information to be refreshed in your wireless carrier's database. Different threshold Push alert notifications make it that much more likely you won't forget.
VoiceMan is compatible with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $1.99.
