The iOS Remake Of Death Rally Will Be Blasting Into The App Store This Thursday

March 30, 2011
The wait is nearly over. After more than two-and-a-half months, Remedy's iOS remake of their 1996 success, Death Rally, will be available to iDevice gamers in all of its nostalgic glory. The company's recent tweet verifies that the title will just barely make the March scheduled release window. Death Rally is a top-down arcade racer with tons of vehicular destruction. Win races and cause mayhem to earn your way to purchasing some fun upgrades, providing even bigger explosions and flaming vehicle goodness. There's no epic storyline or touching characters, just action-packed racing and adrenaline filled "wait for it" machine gun and missile launching intensity. Remedy plans to add Game Center-based online multiplayer through a later update. In order to make this remake possible, there's a team effort amongst Remedy, Mountain Sheep, and Cornfox & Brothers. Perhaps the names of these developers won't ring a bell, but the games they helped create should seem familiar to many of you. Remedy developed the third-person shooter hits Max Payne, Max Payne 2 - The Fall of Max Payne, and Alan Wake. Even though it's published by Chillingo, Mountain Sheep is the creative mind behind the addictive dual-stick shooter Minigore for iOS. In the meantime, check out the behind-the-scenes "Making of Death Rally" part 1 and part 2. Death Rally will be released for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, but no final price has been revealed.
