Verizon iPhone Currently Can't AirPlay iMovies To Apple TV

March 11, 2011
Apple's latest software update (iOS 4.3) is incompatible with the Verizon iPhone, meaning owners of the CDMA handset can't AirPlay iMovie projects to an Apple TV. The recently released iOS 4.3 is incompatible with the Verizon iPhone, which currently runs iOS 4.2.6, a CDMA iPhone only version of Apple's mobile operating system. While iOS 4.2.6 includes the Personal Hotspot feature, it does not include the AirPlay expansions Apple has added in iOS 4.3. One such AirPlay expansion ties in with iMovie, which was updated yesterday. When running iOS 4.3, iDevice owners can play iMovie projects on an Apple TV, via AirPlay. However, Verizon iPhone owners are currently unable to take advantage of AirPlay related features. As Apple notes in a support document: "At this time, the iPhone CDMA version is not compatible with AirPlay." Hopefully, Verizon iPhone owners will get a version of iOS 4.3 in the near future. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, CDMA iPhone owners can enjoy the latest version of iMovie, they just can't AirPlay projects to an Apple TV.
