WatchESPN: ESPN Live On Your iDevice, Anywhere

April 7, 2011
WatchESPN is a recently released iOS app that allows Apple fans to enjoy live streaming feeds of ESPN, on their iDevice, on the go. Currently, the app is available to download for free - however, access to the application is determined by the users' TV provider. As of this moment, only certain providers are allowing their customers access to the application. As outlined by the app's developer (in the WatchESPN's release notes), the participating providers are:
  • Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable & Verizon FiOS TV – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU are available to fans who receive ESPN as part of their TV package
  • Verizon High Speed Internet – If you do NOT receive TV service from an above provider, but receive high-speed internet from Verizon, you will have access to ESPN3
If your TV provider is listed above, or if you receive high speed Internet from Verizon, take a look at WatchESPN in the App Store and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Currently, the app runs natively on the iPhone and iPod touch - however, an iPad optimized version is coming in May.
