White iPhone 4 No Longer Available To Order Online From 3 UK: The Link Disappears

April 19, 2011
The white iPhone 4 is no longer available to order online from 3's website. This morning, the link disappeared. Yesterday, we got very excited when UK carrier, 3, was seemingly allowing UK Apple fans to order the white iPhone 4 from its website. The carrier promised to have the white handset delivered by April 20 (at the earliest) - and even various customer service representatives assured us that this offer was real and legitimate (see the "update" section of yesterday's article). However, despite this, 3 has removed the link - which now takes customers to the default 3 Store webpage - suggesting that yesterday's appearance of the white iPhone was an error. As reported by Engadget, 3's official statement on the matter explains that the webpage is meant to be inactive and hidden:
This page is not live at the moment, it was built at the same time as the iPhone black page so that we have it ready when and should the time come to launch white. For now, it's a hidden page that's inactive.
Regardless, the white iPhone 4 is still expected to launch this spring. The news has been confirmed by both Phil Schiller (via Twitter) and The Wall Street Journal (via unidentified Apple sources). Yesterday, we thought the time had come. However, it looks like we're going to have to wait a little bit longer before Apple fans can order the white iPhone 4 online. We'll keep you posted.
