Quirky App Of The Day: Jersey Shore Quotes

I make a habit of trolling through iTunes for strange apps. It's my job. I don't mean trolling as in starting flamewars or posting "Fake and gay" in the comment sections. I mean that, just as fishermen out on the deep blue, I throw out a net of feelers for what might or might not be worth a good, laugh-inducing review. Sometimes, I hit an app that makes me do a mental facepalm, like yesterday's hand cooling app review. Sometimes, I'm pleasantly amused by them, like with Shopping Cart Hero. Then, there's the app from today that I have to look at. It isn't so much because the app is entertaining as much as it is that I believe it to be my duty to review all quirky apps no matter how I much I would rather not touch them. It's a public service.
Let me be the first to say that the devs had nothing to do with the poor content. In fact, I applaud them for being able to plug on through what I'm sure was a very trying process. It isn't everyday that normal people are called upon to collect some of the stupidest quotes that I have ever seen, and yet these devs managed to do just that. These quotes don't come from just anyone though. These quotes are compliments of Jersey Shore. Sorted by person, you can click through quotes or set the app to random.
I sat down, clicking through the quotes, and I kept thinking, "There has to be a low at some point. There has to be a quote that is aptly marked as the stupidest one in the bunch." There isn't. You just keep wondering if that one is the last, then a few quotes later, you find out a whole new level of low. There was everything from cat fight quotes to fried pickles. I thought the fried pickles was some sort of sexual innuendo, but no. They weren't.
Eventually, I started to be optimistic. I thought about how there's a good chance that these quotes could be taken out of context. I think most people have seen that happen. So, I poured myself a bowl of Life cereal, sat down with my Netflix, and pulled up some Jersey Shore. I was surprised when the first few quotes weren't taken out of context. They were exactly how they appeared to be. I was less surprised when the next two or three quotes were exactly how they sounded in the app. By the time I heard the next few quotes, I decided I had done my thorough research, and I could turn it off and review with due diligence.
The app is free, so thumbs up for the awesome price. The layout is classier than most of the girls on the show. My husband looked over my shoulder and asked if this was a sort of app where if you ask the right questions, the girls will remove pieces of clothing. I honestly couldn't tell him that those weren't the girls he was thinking about. Especially not after watching a bit of the show. I explained exactly what the app was, and he laughed and was relieved that the app was pretty clean. I'm just not truly sure if anything dallying with Jersey Shore can be called "clean."
