Twitter Rolling Out More Realistic Web App Based On Newest HTML 5 Standards

May 12, 2011
The future for Twitter's official mobile app presence is uncertain at best, but their official mobile web presence is a different story altogether. Today, the concision-oriented social service started to roll out its brand new mobile web experience; and -- while most of us haven't received the updated code in our browsers just yet -- the thing's direction seems well-intending. Announced perks from Twitter's own posting include a completely rebuilt engine, screen-size optimizations, gesture controls, scrollable timelines, and switchable tabs. However, as MacStories points out,
there are still some obvious perks in using the native iPhone app, such as inline browsing for media and links or image and video uploading functionalities.
Of course, the web app will work on any modern smartphone platform (provided it has an HTML 5-ready browser), so an iPhone is not a prerequisite for use. But, we've all got one of those, anyway, right?
