Find Out What's Up Next For The Radiator Springs Gang In The Cars 2 Storybook

June 24, 2011
Just in time for Friday's theatrical launch of Disney and Pixar's family comedy, Cars 2, Disney Publishing and Small Planet Digital released the Cars 2 Storybook Deluxe interactive children's book app to the App Store late yesterday. Cars 2 Storybook Deluxe is a 25-page eBook filled with colorful images, including zooming and small animations, and hilarious quotes from the film. Enjoy the action, adventure, comedy, and drama before going out to see the movie and numerous times thereafter. As with most digital books, Cars 2 Storybook Deluxe has both the "read to me" and "read it myself" options. These two options allow a child to experience the story with little to no adult assistance or practice reading while taking everything in at any kind of casual pace desired. Read To Me also provides the opportunity for parents to interact with their kids page-by-page, discussing, laughing, teaching, and more. For those parents who may be interested in a personal touch, the Cars 2 Storybook offers the ability to record your voice for the narration of the story. Narration recordings are performed on a per page basis. To make or edit a recording, go to the menu by tapping on the book icon in the bottom-center of the screen, then tap on Record, then Record My Voice. Disney and Small Planet take these lovable characters beyond the story for some interactive playtime. For example, five of the scenes are available as coloring book pages. These coloring pages can be filled in with the swipe of a finger or fingers using the original color palette and decorated with eight additional solid colors. Furthermore, there are options to zoom by quadrant, show and hide the outline, and share the final creation via email or to the Camera Roll. Besides those available in Paint, five different scenes can be turned into a jigsaw puzzle. Each of these puzzles have three difficulty level choices, which determine the size of the pieces. Both Puzzles and Paint scenes are selectable through the menu or indicated with the appropriate symbol during reading. If those features weren't enough to keep the "little ones" smiling and out of trouble, Cars 2 Storybook Deluxe has two mini-games they can play. Tokyo Lights is a Simon Says-style game where players must correctly repeat the sequence of flashing lights. Mater's Tire Toss is a Plinko-style game requiring the player to launch a tire onto an array of automotive rims in an attempt to get the highest score possible before the tire hits the ground. Cars 2 Storybook Deluxe is compatible with iPad running iOS 3.2 or later, and available now in the App Store for the introductory price of $5.99.
