Go Beyond Basic Album Artwork With Coverjam And Coverjam Pro
July 19, 2011
Music album artwork can be pretty cool sometimes, but looking at the same album cover over and over thousands of times tends to get tiresome. Electric Pocket has just the cure, a new iOS app that displays recent live performance, backstage, rare, user created tribute images and more to your favorite music artists.
Coverjam and Coverjam Pro scavenge both the Instagram and Flickr photo sharing networks for images related to the song you're currently playing. Because they are posted by anyone, these images could be still captures of live performances, backstage photos with the band, other images of band members, memorabilia, edited album covers, and other tributes to the music.
The very first image is the album cover, but the remaining nine are randomly chosen out of all images found for that artist. The images automatically advance like a slideshow, but you can do a left or right swipe to look through them manually. Tap on the expanding arrows to enter full screen mode, where you can view the images in portrait or landscape and show or hide the controls with a single tap.
Want a new set of images to look at? Simply tap the refresh button in the bottom-left corner to find some new photos. Any photos you feel are offensive or are the same original album cover you already have will be added to a block list by tapping the no / prohibit symbol, which can be reset in the settings area. Come across a photo you like; share it via Twitter, Facebook, or an email message using the action button in the bottom-right corner.
Other options within settings include enabling or disabling the auto-play of images and enabling or disabling of image animations, a dramatic zoom effect. If you have an AirPlay-enabled devices on your home network, the bottom-right corner of the settings panel will contain the AirPlay output source selection button and menu.
Coverjam Pro gives you all of these great features on every iOS 4 compatible iDevice you own. However, you can give the app a test drive with the no-cost, ad-supported Coverjam. Coverjam provides everything except native iPad support, but does work in iPad Compatibility Mode.
