Jailbreak: SiriToggles Adds App Launching, Setting Adjustments, And More To Apple's Personal Assistant
January 23, 2012
There appears to be plenty astir lately in the jailbreak community. Following on the heels of the "Absinthe" Greenpois0n release, SiriToggles, a jailbreak tweak to expand Siri's capabilities, is scheduled to make it into the Cydia store very soon.
In the default Apple configuration, Siri is able to read iMessages, dictate iMessages, make calls, add reminders, report the weather, and do web searches but many other commands and requests will be politely denied. However, SiriToggles provides Siri with an app launching ability and gives the digital personal assistant access to the Settings app.
Some of the example commands include speaking "launch" and then an app name to open any application, "set" and an adjustable option to change brightness and other preferences, and "turn on" / "turn off" or "enable" / "disable" to activate or deactivate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other services. Beyond settings and app launching, SiriToggles also understands status requests, such as "what's my current battery level?"
SiriToggles, developed by Hamza Sood, is available to download -- as in free -- in the BIgBoss repository of the Cydia store.
