New Apple Engineers Work On Fake Products Until They're Considered Trustworthy

January 30, 2012
It's a well-known fact that, despite the famous iPhone 4 leak, Apple is obsessed with secrecy. In fact, according to Adam Lashinsky’s "Inside Apple" - which offers readers an insight into Apple's management strategies - the company has new engineers working on fake products for months, until senior members of staff are sure the new hires are trustworthy. The news was also confirmed in an interview with Lashinsky, in which one member of the audience - a former Apple employee - noted:
A friend of mine who’s a senior engineer at Apple, he works on — or did work on — fake products I’m sure for the first part of his career, and interviewed for 9 months. It’s intense.
Crazy, right? You can view the appropriate section of the Lashinsky interview below. His e-book, "Inside Apple," is currently available in the iBookstore for $12.99.
