Continuing To Go Beyond The Standard Check-In App, Foursquare Adds Business Hours To Listings

March 10, 2012
Foursquare is the top location-based check-in service out there. For the most part, check-in apps are thought of as entertainment and social focused. However, Foursquare is becoming more of a search tool than just some way to oust your friends of their virtual mayoral position at the local hangout. Expanding on the more productive side, Foursquare now allows businesses to display hours of operation. That's right, you can now find out if it's too late to head out to the local sandwich shop, club, salon, and so on. In addition, businesses can also post special hours, such as delivery and "happy" hours. Combine this with Foursquare check-in specials and the ability to look over the menu before even leaving your home, and you've got an app that's on a path to being your single go to choice when out and about. Of course, not every business will be immediately featuring their hours of operation. To give a little push, not only did Foursquare announce the previous information on their blog earlier today, but the company also linked to a step-by-step guide explaining how business managers can add standard and special hours to their Foursquare listing. Foursquare is designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download.
