ToonCamera Gains Overall Improvements, Plus Some New Effects

May 15, 2012
Released in September 2010, ToonCamera is a neat photography app by Code Organa that gives a cartoon view of the world through the lens of your iDevice camera. Continuing on the improvements since that time, the recent release of v3.2 includes new effects, plus enhancements to several different features. Along with the effects, ToonCamera v3.2 contains better visual quality art styles and zoom support. Unlike most other apps, ToonCamera allows zooming in both photo and video capturing modes. Unfortunately, also unlike most other apps, ToonCamera doesn't appear to provide a zoom level indicator. However, the zoom level resets to zero when resuming the app. Helping to reduce unnecessary battery consumption and annoying those around you, Code Organa has changed a preview behavior. When not in capture mode, such as when reviewing a recent photo or video, the LED light or "torch" feature will now be deactivated. The torch is automatically re-enabled when you return to capture mode. To wrap things up, ToonCamera has better AirPlay mirroring compatibility, basic EXIF, TIFF, and IPTC data preservation, and higher quality UI graphics. While ToonCamera doesn't feature an overall iPad-optimized interface, the improved graphics help make the experience when using the app on a Retina display, including the new iPad, much more pleasing. ToonCamera is compatible with second generation iPad, third generation iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, fourth generation iPod touch and newer running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $0.99.
