App Designed To Make Diagnosing Easy For Medical Professionals

June 4, 2012
Looking to aid medical professionals, the new Caracal Diagnosis app quickly and easily helps determine a disease or condition. Designed with a search engine interface, users can simply input medical words like signs, symptoms, or lab results. The app then provides a list of possible diseases that affect the patient. Using a unique search algorithm, the most likely diseases appear near the top of the search. Currently, the app’s database has 1,600 diseases, but more are expected to be added in the near future. There are more than 2,200 different signs, symptoms, and lab findings to choose from. With a user-friendly interface, the app features a clinical decision support system. Symptoms are also listed in alphabetical order for easy access. A differential diagnosis is displayed after less than two seconds. And as a big plus, all the information is stored directly in the app so users don’t need an Internet connection. Even though I’m far from a medical professional, using the app was very simple and quick, and I can imagine it would come in handy for any medical professional looking to make a quick diagnosis. Caracal Diagnosis is designed for the iPhone and iPod touch, but does work on the iPad. It can be purchased for $5.99 in the App Store.
