Spy vs. Spy Game Will Hit iOS Devices This Summer

June 25, 2012
The remake of the classic Spy vs. Spy game for the iPhone and iPad is apparently coming closer to reality. According to Joystiq, the game will be available this summer. For those of you who aren’t versed in reverse alphabetical cipher, here’s what Joystiq says the cryptic piece of pictured PR from WB Games and developer Robots & Pencils says:
White and black spies resurface -(stop)- iPad -(stop)- iPhone -(stop)- iPod Touch -(stop)- online two players -(stop)- this summer -(stop)- this message will self destruct in five seconds -(stop)-
For those not aware, Spy vs. Spy is a longtime cartoon strip in MAD magazine that sees two spies trying to kill each other with an insane amount of booby traps and weapons. In the 1984 game designed for the Atari, Commodore 64, and Apple II computers, the spies are in an embassy and try to kill their rival while collecting all the items needed to exit before the timer expires. I have enormously fond memories of the first game, and I’m looking forward to trying the remake when it hits iOS devices. The hinted multiplayer action definitely sounds like a blast (both figuratively and literally). We’ll let you know if we find out any more information like a specific release date and price.
