Updated With Workaround: Users Around The World Report App Store Outage

July 21, 2012
Apple's iOS App Store appears to be down for many users around the world, meaning countless Apple fans are currently unable to download or update applications either on their iDevice, or from within iTunes on a desktop computer. The news was first reported by The Next Web, who notes:
Developers we have contacted are not aware of any scheduled maintenance Apple is performing on the iOS App Store, and at the time of writing, the Mac App Store remains unaffected. This appears to rule out some theories that app servers are unresponsive due to Apple’s impending launch of its new Mountain Lion Mac operating system.
So far, users in the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia and Kuwait have reported outages. It's currently not known whether Apple is performing any kind of maintenance on the App Store, or if some other reason is the cause for the App Store's down-time. Let us know if you're having a hard time connecting to the App Store. If any more news regarding this matter hits the Web, we'll be sure to let you know. Update Following the publication of the website's original article, The Next Web has updated its post with a temporary workaround:
We have received reports that if you sign out of your iTunes account on your mobile device, then sign in, you should be able to connect to the App Store without a problem. Please let us know if this works for you in the comments.
