Angry Birds Space Is Going On A Mission To Mars

August 3, 2012
Rovio's famous franchise simply refuses to stay out of the news. Just a day following the latest update to the original Angry Birds, here comes our first sneak peek at what's coming next for the newest title in the series, Angry Birds Space. Only a week ago, Angry Birds Space received an update that added more levels to its Utopia planet. Now, Angry Birds Space looks set to invade the red planet. Just as it did when it officially announced the game last March, Rovio collaborated with NASA in the making of a short video about the upcoming update. As noted by Pocket Gamer, the 30-second teaser begins with a notice about the imminent landing of the Mars Curiosity Rover on the red planet. "What will it find?" asks the video. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. As shown in the video, the shadow of a passing bird appears on the surface of Mars. That settles it, then: the rover may very well find the super-powered fowl of Angry Birds Space. Of course, this all but confirms that their sworn piggy enemies are on the red planet as well. The current versions of Angry Birds Space for iPhone and Angry Birds Space HD for iPad are available in the App Store for $0.99 and $2.99, respectively. Their Martian versions are expected to be released this fall. What better place to continue the war between birds and pigs in outer space than on a planet named after a god of war, right?
