Brian Froud's Heart of Faerie Oracle ($3.99) by Do Tank Studios gives you the wisdom of the faeries to answer life’s questions. Based on “The Heart of Faerie Oracle” book by Brian and Wendy Froud, this app’s main feature is to act as a deck of fortune telling cards.
Just like Niggle, and The Psychic Tarot Oracle Cards - John Holland, the idea is that you try to answer a question by looking at it from a different perspective.
Three options are available once you’ve thought of that burning question in your mind: single reading, three card reading, or letting the faeries pick a card for you.
Swipe from side to side to select one of the face-down cards.
Selecting it will reveal the card’s name, along with an illustration. Tapping the picture will reveal what the card means.
As with any fortune telling setup, the descriptions are vague and general enough that they can easily bend to apply to your situation. However, I will say that I still found the drawn cards to be pretty profound. For the questions I asked it, I was able to view the problems from a different point of view.
The deck includes 65 cards, with three wild cards that tell you to listen to your heart and make what you will of drawing that card. Each card is beautifully illustrated, and tilting your iPhone will make the picture move.
Whether of not you believe in metaphysical New Age ideas, the app is still fun and intriguing. I think $3.99 is steep for what the app entails, but luckily for you, there’s a chance to win it.
