There are more and more apps popping up that are
designed specifically for pets. That's right, Fido or Whiskers have apps that are dedicated to them.
Mouse Dart is a game of "catch the mouse" for the felines in the family. Quite frankly, I'm just surprised that anyone would let a pet anywhere near an iPad or iPhone. I have children, and I barely let them touch either one. Whether or not my children would treat an iDevice better than an animal would is debatable.
Since the game is
designed for cats, it obviously can't be all that difficult. You're not going to have joystick control and multiple tap gestures. There's a dart board that a mouse runs around. If it gets tapped, the cat earns the number of points that the mouse was standing over. If the cat misses, they lose points.
While the game is designed for cats, I'll go ahead and admit that I had fun playing it. Will it keep me entertained for hours? I'd like to think I'm more complex than that. However, it's not a bad game based on its own merits, regardless of being designed for cats. During those moments in the grocery store when I'm dying for my child to be quiet, I would hand over this sort of app for them to play with. It's an easy, no fuss game. They would probably also get a kick out of the mouse squeaks they would hear when they tap the mouse.
The game has two main customizable parts. There are several different dart boards to choose from. The mouse is also changeable. The developer explained that the cats had fun making the most stupid-looking mouse possible. I would be lying if I denied that I shared a common goal with the cats when I started changing the mouse.
