Apple Expected To Offer Unlocked iPhone 5 Models Tonight
November 29, 2012
Unlocked iPhone 5s could be arriving at Apple’s online store as soon as today, Nov. 29 at 9 p.m. PST. The same models are also expected to show up at Apple retail stores in the near future, according to 9to5Mac.
The unlocked handsets will sell for $649, $749, and $849, for the 16GB, 32GB, and 65GB models, respectively. These are the same prices that were originally leaked on a page on Apple’s website earlier this month. They are similar to what the company was charging for unlocked iPhone 4S models.
Unlocked phones aren’t attached to a specific carrier. In other words, you pay the full price for your iPhone upfront and then decide which carrier you’d like to use. This choice can be changed as often as you’d like depending on where you are.
Although unlocked iPhone 5s are available elsewhere, they have remained elusive here in the U.S. The iPhone 5 launched on Sept. 21.
