A full seven months after its last major update, Epoch for iPhone and iPad has just been equipped with a new one. This new update introduces a sort of graphical expansion and, more important, a whole new mode of gameplay.

If there’s one word that effectively describes Epoch, it’s, well, “epochal.” The acclaimed game by Uppercut Games is epochal in that it gloriously melds graphics and gameplay into a robot combat cover shooter that is anything but mechanical.

The latest update to Epoch, which is only the game’s third major update since its release a year ago, brings a few improvements that boost both its graphics and gameplay.

To start with, the game has just been optimized for the four-inch Retina display of the iPhone 5. This is a nice graphics-focused follow-up to Epoch’s previous major update, which gave the game its much-anticipated Retina iPad upgrade.

But no doubt the most significant feature to come to Epoch is the new Arena Mode.

Essentially an action-packed survival mode, Arena Mode challenges you to combat endless waves of enemy robots. As well, it lets you fight with your friends on the new leaderboards.

In addition, the following enhancements are now included in Epoch:

  • New locations to fight in
  • Complete the new missions to earn XP
  • Profiles for multiple users on one device
  • New character intercepts to collect
  • New achievements

The new version of Epoch is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new universal download worth $2.99. Grab this better-than-ever, epochal game now.
