In mid-December last year, AgileBits’ popular password management app 1Password received its 4.0 update. The update was deemed so significant by AgileBits that it warranted a relaunch of the app in the App Store. And now, that universal app has just gotten the first major update of its own.
To be sure, the revamped 1Password received its first ever update a few days after its release. But that update merely fixed a critical bug that affected some users during initial setup of the app.
Now, though, 1Password’s new update is a doozy, as far as improvements are concerned.
Now at version 4.1, 1Password boasts improved Dropbox and iCloud syncing and added support for USB sync utility. Also, it boasts improved Master Password and Quick Unlock Code settings and added support for more font options and colors.
The app now also shows the search bar at all times for easier searching and supports item search in portrait orientation on iPad. Further, it now shows attachments in Secure Notes.
Further still, it adds a couple of improvements each to a couple of its newest features, namely, Vault Mode and Web Mode.
In Vault Mode, tapping the tab icon twice on iPad now takes you to the root view. In addition, you can now just tap on rows in the item detail view to show the menu, as opposed to having to tap and hold on the same.
As for Web mode, bug fixes are in effect in the built-in Web browser and the ability to copy the current URL is now in order.
The latest version of 1Password also adds support for the following URL schemes:
- ophttp:// and ophttp:// URLs to open 1Password from mobile Safari
- onepassword://search/search_text to open 1Password and perform search
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, 1Password 4.1 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $7.99 download.
The newly updated app also includes improved language support, with new Czech, Danish, Hebrew, and Polish translations.
