Temple Run 2 continues to slide its way into the record books. Developer Imangi Studios announced today that the app has become the fastest downloaded mobile game ever with more than 50 million downloads in 13 days.
“Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. “The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time.”The app snatched the title away from previous record holder Angry Birds Space, which recorded 50 million downloads in 35 days. It is important to note that Angry Birds Space is a paid app while Temple Run 2 is free. Released almost two weeks ago, Temple Run 2 is a sequel to the immensely popular endless runner Temple Run. It adds improved graphics and new environments to travel through. Just four days after its release, Imangi announced that the app was downloaded 20 million times. Temple Run 2 is a universal app for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. It can be downloaded for free in the App Store, but be prepared to shell out cash for in-app purchases to help garner coins and other various power-ups.
