The iPad 5, iPad mini 2 Due To Arrive In March Says Report
January 11, 2013
The next generation iPad and iPad mini will likely launch in March, according to one respected analyst. If correct, Apple would be replacing their two tablet products just five months after announcing the current versions, according to AppleInsider.
Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets has been checking with key “industry sources” at this week’s CES in Las Vegas, Nev. These checks indicate that new iPads will be ready for market in just a few weeks.
According to White, the fifth-generation iPad will be lighter and thinner than the previous models. However, beyond this, it won’t be much different than the fourth-generation iPad with Retina display. As such, the iPad 5 will include the new A6X processor and Apple’s smaller Lightning connector.
The second-generation iPad mini will include upgraded components, such as a faster chip, but will look just like its predecessor. White did not report whether the next iPad mini would include a Retina display, as has been rumored.
Assuming White’s assessments are correct, both the new iPad and iPad mini look to be incremental updates.
