GoDaddy-Owned Mobile Website Creation App M.dot Gets New Update
February 24, 2013
M.dot, the mobile website creation app acquired by GoDaddy a couple of weeks ago, has just received a new update.
M.dot offers mobile website creation based on pre-loaded templates with easy-to-use custom features.
It appears to be designed for use by small businesses, but individuals are welcome to use it as well.
The app's latest update, beyond the obligatory bug fixes, brings several improvements.
First, the update provides a simplified on boarding and first-launch workflow.
One nice thing about M.dot is that you can use it right out of the box even without signing up for a new account. You can take the app for a spin as a tester and sign up later on.
But whether you sign up immediately or not, M.dot makes it easy for you to get started with your mobile website. Just choose a template and you're ready to edit and customize your chosen template.
Note that a tester account is only temporary and that you need to create an account for you to access your mobile website in the future.
The update also delivers menu and icon changes that simplify navigation around the app.
In addition, the update brings a completely new and simplified domain setup process.
If you want to pair your M.dot mobile website with your custom domain, just tap "Set site address" and "Use my own domain name." You can then choose to display your M.dot site for both desktop and mobile visitors or for mobile visitors only.
After entering your custom domain in the appropriate field, the instructions on how to set it up with your M.dot site are shown.
Pairing your M.dot site with your domain is currently free, but pricing is said to be announced later via email.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later, the new version of M.dot is available in the App Store for free.
