The Nightjar Is A Unique Sensory Experience For iOS Gamers

April 26, 2013
"You are on a dying spaceship. The crew abandoned you. Systems failing. Eveything pitch black. You can't see anything. You have to find your way to safety just by listening … then your problems really start." Ooohhh … That's the premise of The Nightjar, as eerily narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, the English actor best known for his roles in BBC's "Sherlock" and the upcoming "Star Trek Into Darkness." Described as a "video game with no video," The Nightjar is an immensely atmospheric game built chiefly on immersive audio. In fact, the game features what is touted as the most advanced interactive audio engine called Papa Engine. The Nightjar has long been available in the U.K., where its developer, Somethin' Else, is based. But it's only now that the game has been made available internationally. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. The game's international release comes with the following enhancements:
  • rock-solid on all iPhones and iPads, from the 3GS upwards!
  • much, much more immersive sound: better spatial reverb, better binaural processing
  • improvements for VoiceOver users: no need to toggle VoiceOver on and off between levels
  • Retina graphics and support for iPhone 5 screens
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, The Nightjar is available now in the App Store for $4.99. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
