Google Unveils Updated YouTube App With A Cleaner And Simpler Look

Google has just updated its popular YouTube app for iOS devices with three new features sure to make video fans happy. Probably the nicest addition in version 2.0 is the ability to multitask inside the app. With a finger swipe, users can watch a video at the bottom of the screen while continuing to explore other parts of the app. Here’s a quick video that shows off how the feature works. Click here if you can’t see it. The update also brings improved support for connected TVs, including Google’s new Chromecast. The YouTube blog explains the feature:
To make it easier to choose what to watch next, you’ll see a preview screen when your devices are connected and you select a video, with options to play the video to queue it up to watch next.
Finally, users can search and browse channels for playlists on the app and watch collections of back-to-back videos. YouTube is a universal app designed for the both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. Interestingly, the blog says that the cleaner and simpler look will also be making its way to other Google apps soon. [gallery link="file"]
