Instead of sending the usual emoji, make and share animated GIFs with Camoji

August 17, 2014

Tired of sending emoji after well-worn emoji when chatting with your friends? Then better make emoji out of your own face with Camoji.

Recently released on the App Store, Camoji lets you quickly and easily make animated GIFs, including memes and reaction GIFs, with your iOS device’s camera and send them to your friends.

Unsurprisingly, Camoji defaults to the front camera, encouraging you to create animated selfies. But if you’d like to share what’s around you, just swipe sideways to flip to the rear camera.

Once you’re ready, just tap and hold to record an animated GIF of up to six seconds in duration. After recording, just swipe up to send your GIF via iMessage. Alternatively, you can swipe right to share via Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, or save to camera roll or generate a link for sharing later. Swiping left, by the way, deletes your recording.

Note that you can also add text and emoji captions to your GIFs by tapping on them.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, Camoji is available now on the App Store for free.

Camoji is created by Leo Me, the developer of the group photo chat app Leo.
