Younity makes it easier to post your computer photos to Instagram

Younity, the service that gives users access to their files through a personal cloud without syncing, has received another significant update. The 1.8.4 release allows users to publish any photo they have stored on a computer directly to their Instagram account from their iPhone/iPod touch or iPad.

According to a blog posting, Younity’s solution replaces the “time-consuming process of getting a photo onto the mobile device before finally being able to publish it.”

Once Younity is installed on a computer, it will discover all the photos stored there, or on an attached external hard drive. Then, simply open Younity on your mobile device, browse to any photo you’ve ever taken, and select the “Post to Instagram” button. Once you resize the photo, the Younity app will open the Instagram app on the device and allow you to apply filters or adjustments, or add comments and hashtags before posting. It has been a busy summer for the developer team at Younity. Last month, the service integrated with GoPro, allowing users of the popular adventure camera to instantly stream or share content on-demand.

First launched in 2012, Younity puts documents, music, photos, and video onto multiple devices, and across multiple platforms, regardless of storage and without syncing. There are no configuration, management, or storage limits. Best of all, it’s absolutely free.

To get started with Younity, you must first download and install the free Mac or PC utility. Next, visit the App Store and download the universal Younity app. The utility will now scan the files on your Mac or PC. When this process is complete, your files can be accessed, downloaded, or shared.
