IMDb for iOS updated with technical details, box office data and more features
IMDb Movies & TV has just been updated with some new features along with several welcome improvements.
First off, the latest update to the official iOS app of the popular Amazon-owned entertainment industry information database brings technical details and box office data. As a result, each movie page now has sections for viewing technical specifications (including runtime, sound mix, color, aspect ratio, and more) and box office information (including budget, opening weekend, and gross).
The update also adds the ability to add trivia and plot summary to a movie or TV show right from the app. Just go to the Trivia or Plot Summary section of a title and tap “Add a new trivia item” or “Add a new plot” to submit your contribution.
The new version of the IMDb app also includes visual tweaks to title and name pages, including a quicker way to access trailers and photo galleries.
Moreover, the app’s Showtimes feature now offers easy switching between commonly used places and shows times in 24-hour or a.m./p.m. format based on user preference.
The updated app now also shows icons to indicate ways to watch the titles in the Top 250 Movies and Trending Movie lists.
Finally, the latest update to IMDb Movies & TV addresses a number of bugs related to in-app ads. “You should no longer see full-screen expanding ads more than once per day, and ads should be better behaved (no covering up the search bar, blank screens or crashes after closing),” IMDb notes. “We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this caused.”
