Scanbot 4 reinvents the best mobile scanner for iOS
Scanbot, our favorite document scanner for iOS, has just received a major update to version 4.0, bringing with it a number of significant new features. In fact, for the 4.0 release, the folks behind Scanbot have reinvented the app, adding game-changing features which users of Scanbot will love.
First among these changes is support for workflows. In Scanbot, iOS device owners can execute workflows after documents have been scanned and converted to PDFs. These might, for instance, be workflows which upload the document to a Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box destination; it could be a further workflow which shares the PDF using the Mail app. Scanbot 4 displays users’ top three most actively-used workflows alongside captured documents, allowing for dynamic shortcuts which change over time.
In an email which recently reached our inbox, developer doo explained:
The selection of displayed Workflows is based on the number of times a Workflow has been used. Therefore, Scanbot will be able to dynamically adapt to a user’s preferred Workflows over time.
However, this isn’t all Scanbot 4 is bringing to iOS.
Aside from support for workflows, users of the application can now enjoy a further feature called “Quick-Actions.” Here, doo continues:
Based on our proprietary document intelligence technology we enable users to directly act on the information contained in their documents. For example: if a document, let’s say a restaurant receipt, contains a URL, a phone number and the restaurant address, Scanbot will extract and convert them into quick actions. With one tap users can then open the restaurant’s homepage, call for making a reservation, or navigate to the address with the Maps app.
This is smart stuff, indeed, and means acting on content captured using Scanbot 4 is going to be much easier.
In order to access workflows and Quick-Actions, users will of course need to be running the latest version of Scanbot. In addition to this, however, Quick-Actions require users to have upgraded to Scanbot Pro. This can be unlocked for a $4.99 in-app purchase (IAP). Workflows, on the other hand, can be accessed and deployed in the free Scanbot app.
You can download Scanbot 4 free of charge on the App Store now, and it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
