Dark Fear, a new release on the App Store, looks to offer iPhone/iPod touch and iPad owners a bit of a fright.

This is because the application, which can be yours for just $2.99, is a pixellated point-and-click adventure title that features a pretty strong horror theme. In fact, Dark Fear’s developer even goes so far as to put a disclaimer in the app’s release notes, explaining that “this game contains frightening scenes which some players may find disturbing!”

Significantly, the game hit the App Store on Friday, Nov. 13, but does all this talk of horror deliver? Well, before we start detailing what Dark Fear offers iOS gamers, take a look at the app’s trailer:

Still there? Good. We don’t want to give too much away, but suffice to say that Dark Fear is definitely creepy material, and it’ll scare many iOS gamers out there — especially if you play the app with the lights off.

The developer explains:

Explore a diverse landscape filled with forests, mountains, lakes and deserts. Make allies in the local village, upgrade your weapon and armor, go hunting/fishing and fight your way to the truth by slaying your foes, solving puzzles and helping people with their problems.

For $2.99, Dark Fear indeed offers gamers a great story with plenty of material to get through. Though it’s a little past Halloween, it’d be great purchase for anyone looking to give themselves a fright.

You can download Dark Fear on the App Store for $2.99, and as mentioned, it’s optimized for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad.
