Get your racket-swinging fix with Happy Tennis for Apple TV

tvOS App Store
February 1, 2016

The capabilities of the fourth-generation Apple TV are tremendous, and the motion technology in the Siri Remote opens up some great gaming opportunities. We’ve talked in the past about Beat Sports, but a new game is coming to the set-top box that is pure tennis, and pure fun. Happy Tennis has launched in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Korea, and will release worldwide on Feb. 11.

Swing your Siri Remote like a tennis racket

The game takes full advantage of the motion sensing technology in the Siri Remote, letting you swing your accessory like a tennis racket to hit the ball. I’d probably recommend a case, like the Griffin Survivor Play case, and possibly even Apple’s tether for your Siri Remote, when you play this game. Using the accelerometer in the Siri Remote, players are able to launch volleys, smashes, dashes, and ace services, based on the timing of their swings.

Play doubles using iPhones as controllers

Happy Tennis allows you to play alone or have a doubles party with up to three additional players, using the iPhone and the Happy Tennis Remote app as an additional controller. This means you can have a tennis party in your own living room, great for fans of the sport who miss out on play time during the colder, snowy winter months. Of course, it’s also fantastic for anybody else, even those who aren’t (yet) accomplished tennis stars.
