Protect your Siri Remote with the Griffin Survivor Play
As nice as the Siri Remote for the new Apple TV is, it is still far from perfect. It’s terribly thin, and just doesn’t feel comfortable for long gaming sessions. Even worse, several owners discovered early on that the glass surface of the Siri Remote was prone to breaking if dropped on a hard surface. Griffin, quick to release cases for all of our devices, recently launched the Survivor Play for Siri Remote, so let’s take a look at the accessory and see how well it performs.
The Facts
- Company Name: Griffin Technologies
- Product Name: Griffin Survivor Play for Siri Remote for APple TV
- Price: $19.99
- Compatibility: Siri Remote for Apple TV
- Website: Survivor Play for Siri Remote
- Date Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2015
The Basics
The Griffin Survivor Play for Siri Remote is a silicone sleeve that wraps around your remote. The Lightning charging port, microphone, and every other important aspect of the remote is still fully accessible, while the silicone adds protection and padding to the accessory. You also get a nice contoured back with texturing to improve the grip on the remote.
Integration With the Siri Remote
The cover fits snugly, but not too snugly, around your Siri Remote. As previously mentioned, all of the ports, buttons, and microphone are easily accessible, so the functionality of your Siri Remote remains the same as without the case.
Use and Feel
The silicone cover fits the Siri Remote perfectly, and it adds enough thickness to make it much more comfortable to use. You also get the benefit of a contoured, textured back for an even better feel while you’re holding the remote, especially sideways. My only beef is that the Survivor Play is only available in a clear color; I would have liked to see more options for colorizing the Siri Remote.
What’s Hot
- Protects your Siri Remote from drops and falls
- Adds much-needed girth to the Siri Remote for a more comfortable grip
- Maintains access to all of the remote’s ports, buttons, and microphone
What’s Not
- No color options other than clear
How Does It Stack Up?
The Survivor Play is probably the best case available for your Siri Remote. There isn’t much room for improvement from my perspective, other than offering more color choices.
Where Can You Get It, and How Much Does It Cost?
The Griffin Survivor Play for Siri Remote is available for $19.99, either from Griffin itself or from Amazon.
