Amazon Drive Offers Dual Backup, Both Locally and in the Cloud
A new hard drive partnership from both Seagate and Amazon called Amazon Drive offers an interesting way of backing up your content, both locally and onto Amazon’s cloud service for just $99.
Seagate Duet Amazon Drive
The goal of the hard drive is to provide a way for you to back up your content locally so that you have easy access to your files while also taking the guesswork out of backing up those same files to the cloud. All you need to do is plug the hard drive into your Mac (or PC) and sign into Amazon’s service. Everything else is taken care of.
The physical hard drive isn’t anything special. It’s a 1TB non-SSD hard drive. The big selling point is the fact that you don’t have to worry if that 1TB hard drive fails you as it’s all being backed up on Amazon’s servers.
What makes all this so interesting is that this comes just off the news that Apple is getting out of the router business. If you are a big Time Machine user and you’re worried about how you’re going to back up your stuff to something safe and secure, this might be your best bet.
If you’re interested in getting this hard drive, it’s available for pre-order with a planned ship date of December 10, 2016.
