Google Details Upcoming iOS 14 Home Screen Widgets for Popular Apps

November 19, 2020

Google is jumping on the iOS 14 home screen widget bandwagon with its slate of popular apps.

Gmail was the first recipient of the feature with a recent update. You can search an inbox, start a new email, and see the number of unread messages you have from a home screen.

Upcoming updates are soon arriving for Google Drive and Google Fit. With the Drive widget, you can search for a file and easily access the content. And the Fit widget will show Heart Points and steps taken daily and during the week.

Both Chrome and Calendar will add widgets “in the coming weeks,” according to Google. Chrome’s widget will give you quick access to search, open a new tab, or incognito tab. You’ll also be able to search with your voice and scan a QR code from your home screen.

The Calendar widget will show upcoming appointments.

All of the apps are free and available for iPhone and all iPad models.
