Toggling Off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi in iOS 11 Control Center Doesn't Fully Disable Them

Apple's Software
September 20, 2017

While the redesigned and now modular iOS 11 Control Center is one of the best new features of the software, Apple has recently clarified some important information about the toggle switches for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

According to a new support document, when toggling off either through Control Center, the protocols aren’t completely disabled:

In iOS 11 and later, when you toggle the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth buttons in Control Center, your device will immediately disconnect from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth accessories. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will continue to be available, so you can use these important features:

AirDrop
AirPlay
Apple Pencil
Apple Watch
Continuity features, like Handoff and Instant Hotspot
Instant Hotspot
Location Services

To completely disable Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, you’ll need to do so through the Settings app and select either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
