The iPad Pro's Smart Connector means there's a number of interesting keyboard cases available for the more powerful tablet. One of the best on the market, Logitech's Create, is now available for the newer 9.7-inch iPad Pro, as well as for its larger, older, 12.9-inch counterpart.

The case offers a more traditional typing experience for iPad Pro owners.

Back when the iPad Pro was released, two keyboards – one from Apple, and the other from Logitech – were released (and were reviewed) alonside the product. Logitech's Create Keyboard Case featured hard, physical keys and connected to its companion iPad Pro using the tablet's Smart Connector. It might have made a tap tap sound and was somewhat on the bulky side, but the Create nevertheless offered iPad Pro owners a typing experience that felt more like a real, actual keyboard.

The good news is that Logitech has now launched a version of this keyboard for Apple’s newer, smaller iPad Pro. The 9.7-inch version of Logitech's case is just as great: it includes a row of shortcut keys, the keyboard is entirely backlit, there's an Apple Pencil holder, and the case fully surrounds (and protects) its enclosed iPad Pro. Because the case connects via the Smart Connector, there's no troublesome Bluetooth pairing. And better still, the Create Keyboard Case is a handsome $20 less expensive than Apple's own Smart Keyboard Case offering. Before now, I’d been using Apple’s case to do work on the iPad Pro, but Logitech’s keyboard shortcuts (and backlit keys) could see me make the switch soon.

You can order Logitech's Create Keyboard Case right now for $129.99, and the product qualifies for free shipping. It's available in two colors – black or blue.
