Bjork's Upcoming Album Will Be Released As 10 iPad Apps, All Bundled Together

June 4, 2011
Yes, you did read the headline correctly: Bjork, the popular Icelandic singer-songwriter, will release her next album as 10 iPad apps, according to a recent report. The news comes from UK newspaper The Guardian, who published an article regarding the upcoming album several days ago. According to the publication:
For one song, Virus, the app will feature a close-up study of cells being attacked by a virus to represent what Snibbe calls: "A kind of a love story between a virus and a cell. And of course the virus loves the cell so much that it destroys it." The interactive game challenges the user to halt the attack of the virus, although the result is that the song will stop if you succeed. In order to hear the rest of the song, you have to let the virus take its course.
Interesting, right? However, Bjork isn't the first musician to turn to Apple's "magical and revolutionary" iPad. On Christmas Day, the animated band Gorrilaz released a free album that had been largely composed on an iPad. And with the release of GarageBand, many non-established musicians are composing on the iPad, on the go. We'll keep you posted on the status of Bjork's album, and will be sure to let you know when the application hits the App Store. [via Gizmodo]
