Facebook's First Tablet App Is Coming To HP First?

June 28, 2011
Facebook’s long-awaited tablet app might not arrive on the iPad, at least first. Instead, the Facebook tablet app will debut on the HP TouchPad, according to TechCrunch. One week after rumors surfaced Facebook for iPad was nearing release comes word the social networking site’s first tablet app will debut first on HP's new tablet, which arrives on Friday. This doesn’t mean a Facebook app for iPad isn’t coming too. Rather, it will arrive after its debut on the HP TouchPad, which runs on WebOS. According to TechCrunch:
Unless the iPad app also launches this week, the TouchPad will become the first tablet with an official Facebook app.  Given the tension between Apple and Facebook, a concurrent launch on the iPad seems unlikely.
Last week, AppAdvice opined whether Facebook was Apple’s friend or foe? This story definitely makes that question even more interesting, don't you think? After all, why would the world’s largest social networking site choose HP and not Apple to launch its highly anticipated tablet app? Thoughts? [Photo: TechCrunch]
