BlizzCon 2011 Guide (Free) by Blizzard Entertainment is an events planner created specifically for this year’s Blizzcon to be held in less than two weeks on October 21-22; an event that allows Blizzard to show off all its current games and future plans.

The Guide will allow you to see all events available, add them to your personal schedule, set a reminder alarm, and even find them on a map.

There are really just three sections of interest found along the bottom of the screen: Schedule, My Schedule and Floor Map.

The Schedule, which has a list of everything happening that weekend, can be filtered by game, stage and day. There are events for the usual big fan favorites including Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, and Diablo 3, as well as an Other section for art, sound, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

One you’ve found an item of interest, tap it to be given the options of Add To My Schedule, Set Event Alert and finding its location with View Floor Map. Unfortunately, the app won’t tell you if you select more than one event that occupies the same time slot.

You’ll have to pay careful attention to what you’re choosing, but perhaps this is intentional as it allows you to be indecisive. Some kind of notice or highlighting of conflicting events would be nice though, just to avoid confusion.

The floor map is a great representation of what you can expect for the con’s layout. It gives information for all the stages, event areas, stores, restrooms, places to eat and just about anything else you can imagine. Its been finely crafted to give it that gaming feel that you might expect from WoW or Diablo 3.

For those of you lucky enough to be attending Blizzcon or even those who have virtual tickets to enjoy the events streamed into your home, this app is a definite must. It will be so much easier to know what’s available and it’s completely free.
